Static & Silence
It’s been a fantastic autumn so far with a wonderfully warm sun whose brilliance and beauty was only rivalled by the golden leaves everywhere. And then the weather decides to turn all nasty, foggy and cold – on the night I go and see the Editors :( I almost froze to death on my way home and I have a feeling I’m coming down with something. (Nose is already running, throat feels sore.)
The show was brilliant though! What gripped me most was Tom’s voice, it was just so intense and seemed to echo within my whole body, something that works only live and not on records.
Editors are now my second favourite band at the moment (whereas up until about 20 hours ago, they ranked only as my 3rd favourite band XD).
There’s this one girl in my Japanese class that I’ve noticed only a few days ago (we’re about 60 students in that class so…), who looks just like Hagu from Hachimitsu to Clover! She’s really tiny, has curly blond hair and a cute doll-like face. I swear she looks like a 7-year-old, just like she never went through puberty *_* When I saw her up close for the first time today, I could barely keep myself from mumbling ‘Hagu, kawaii~’. The only thought that prevented me from doing so was that I do not – under any circumstances! – want to be associated with those weird, downright annoying, childish and immature manga and visual kei freaks in our year. I prefer being a closet manga reader so nobody mistakes me for some uneducated otaku who has no clue about Japanese culture (besides aspects of pop culture like manga, anime and Japanese rock music, of course) and runs around with their favourite comic characters and/or visual kei band members pinned to their backpacks.

So so tired z_z I’m terrible at getting up early in the morning. Because I’m terrible at getting to bed early at night. A never-ending vicious circle.
I will not – NOT EVER – again let friends drag me into Dunkin’ Donuts or similar cradles of evil filth only dumb people stuff their faces with. The muddy brown soup of bitterness they call coffee is plain disgusting.

Where to start? I’m home for the weekend and happy to be with my family again. (I almost wrote even if it’s just for a few days, but then I would’ve quoted half a line of one certain song which isn’t all that worth quoting. But then again, it’s a very generic phrase, so…)
Problems at uni have been sorted out, I’m now taking a few more classes than before so I’m not all that bored as I’d feared at the beginning of the semester :) The award for the most interesting class goes to a seminar on Korean history which is one of the few courses that doesn’t send me to sleep within 7 minutes and is rather fascinating, especially for someone who’s been only familiar with Japanese history before.
The Japanese language courses are okay, a bit on the boring side (which was to be expected) but quite fun nevertheless.
As far as social matters are concerned, I’m in fantastic company :) Met two girls I get along with so well; I can’t believe we already know so much about each other even though we’ve only met a few weeks ago. I suppose I could call one of them my new best friend (if there is such a thing), she’s wonderful, not all that much like me but also very much like me so we have a lot to talk about, situations where we can help each other out or just laugh together because we have common attitudes towards or views about certain issues or people.
Things concerning the opposite sex cannot be discussed yet because it’s too early to say anything ;)
I’m still in love with Berlin and enjoy my life there as much as I can. I’m really happy with my neighbourhood, it’s safe and lovely.
I’m at uni from early in the morning till early in the afternoon, except on Thursdays when I have classes till 6. After school, we usually go to Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg (where one of my friends lives) to hang out in cafes or clubs or go shopping or stuff like that. Commuting and getting from point A to point B is really quite comfortable because you usually don’t have to walk more than 300 metres to get to the nearest train, bus, underground or tram station.
As much as I love my family and being here, I cannot wait to get back to Berlin on Sunday! Next week looks like it’s going to be a little rough (Japanese test etc.) but I’m definitely looking forward to being with my friends again.
And also, I’m going to see the Editors next Sunday! Can’t wait! And if all goes well, I might be able to see Bloc Party later this month. But that would involve a bit of travelling out of town and I’m not sure if I can afford that… ;_;
I’m going to post more often from now on again because I got DSL at my apartment on Thursday. (And it works, too! Without any problems! Someone’s got to give the Deutsche Telekom a big pat on the shoulder.)
