New UNKLE album is here. Can’t talk, can’t breathe, I assimilate pure beauty.

About three years after the acquisition of direngrey.de, I finally decided to put some content on it: an index page and romanized lyrics for VULGAR. Yes, go me.
I also got a little too carried away with encoding songs. This resulted in a massive INSERT COIN update:
The two Aliza Marie songs are from their latest CD, Palette. I like this one so much better than the previous maxi, looks like they’re back too their usual greatness :)
That Belle & Sebastian’s Dog on wheels always reminds me of lying on a windy but nevertheless sunny beach somewhere in Dorsetshire, listening to that very song on walkman, sharing headphones with someone who was very very important to me at the time (spring ‘98).
The samples from Dir en grey’s new album VULGAR were picked pretty randomly. The whole album is great, what more can I say? I missed them terribly; I was always asking myself if they’d ever find their way back to the fantastic band they were till about the summer of 2001. And they did, which makes me extremely happy.
The hardest part was deciding which Idlewild songs to encode -_-;; No really, they make such brilliant albums with songs all great in their own way so I just randomly chose some. The first two are from last year’s The Remote Part, both are a bit different from the ‘typical’ Idlewild songs (if such a thing exists); the other two are really powerful singles from the album 100 broken windows. Highly recommended! Best band in the world, trust me on this.
Speaking of best bands in the world, here’s another one (hehe): Massive Attack. Reflection is one of my all-time favourites; Mezzanine-era (hence the guitars), b-side of Inertia creeps. The Hunter [...] was released on the Batman Forever soundtrack. Really really sexy song; vocals by Tracy Thorn; Protection-era.
Shochuu omimai is the title track of Porori’s first mini-album. The only outstanding track on it, to be honest.
Destroying Angel is one of my favourite songs on Splinter by the Sneaker Pimps. Love love love the lyrics.
The last two songs are from the Smashing Pumpkins. Eye is one of my favourite Pumpkins songs (among like, 50 others -_-;;;;), funky song from a funky movie :) (There’s nothing better than getting to hear a song by one of your favourite bands in a movie by one of your favourite directors.) And Pennies is probably the complete opposite of eye; a really melancholic but cute, lovely little song.
That’s it. Let me know if you like any of the songs :)

Haaah, it’s weekend. Time to relax.
I’ve been running around like crazy, trying to find an apartment, enrolling at university, getting all the bureaucratic sh*t done. Sometimes it feels like Murphy’s Law has been striking back just one too many times. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
It’s Saturday now, though. So relax, try to breathe deeply. *makes that her mantra for today*
And wait for Monday to do all the things mentioned above all over again.
VULGAR is here with me, though. It sure as hell didn’t hurt to spend 4,000-something yen on an album like this. (Pretty pretty first press packaging, as always. I’m proud to announce I own the first press versions for all of Dir en grey’s albums.)
(I’ll write something a little more in-depth about it as soon as I’ve found my head again which got lost somewhere on the train to Leipzig. I love train rides. They make me all philosophical and natsukashii inside o_O They are also the best place and time to read manga and romanize lyrics, or so I’ve come to realize.)
music: Kagrra – Oukaranman samples
Why oh why am I not that impressed by the samples? They’re probably too short. And I’ve been thinking they should get a different singer for about 1 year now.
But then again, I’ve always been disappointed by their samples.
Amy, did my mail get through to you? I got weird messages from Yahoo mail demon saying they had problems delivering the mail…
I wasn’t online yesterday, so I missed kaxxii’s birthday >_<;;
Deshalb:
Alles alles Liebe nachträglich zum Geburtstag ^_^

I’m so glad. Akira Onodera’s official site had to be shut down awhile ago after someone had sent some idiotic threat mails. Looks like the site might be back sooner or later! And Onodera-sensei is working on a yomikiri. Well, if that isn’t good news after Hayabusa has mysteriously vanished from Asuka (;_;)…!
Mypage.naver.co.jp won’t let me in! This has been going on for a few weeks. Everytime I try to visit a site stored on their servers, I get this. This wouldn’t be too bad if the official merry site wasn’t hosted by Naver >_< It took me weeks to realize that the band hadn’t taken the site offline; it was just Naver blocking me… Strange strange…
Evanescence – My last breath
Finally found a decent script that blocks out those stupid hotlinkers. The one I used before was pretty good too, but this one’s even more effective. I only had to remember to disable Norton Internet Security cause so far I found no script that blocks users from other sites who use Norton.
I wrote (really short) reviews for the CDs I got awhile ago but now I’m not sure if I should put them up at my livejournal. I’m just a bit… hesitant. To be honest, I’ve never felt comfortable or home over there for some reason. I think I’ll delete all my lj entries, archive my reviews somewhere over here and use it only for commenting on other people’s ljs.
Even if lj has that handy friends-only feature, even if anyone who comes across this page can read everything I write here, this place feels totally like my ‘web home’. I’m okay with ‘outsiders’ judging me from reading just one or a few entries of this blog. I’m okay really, cause I gave up giving a fuck about what people who I don’t know think of me. I just don’t care. If there’s something I don’t want anyone to know, I won’t post it here; it’s as simple as that.
On a completely different note: My Japanese has been making so much progress in the last 10 months. So Uni was worth one thing, at least ^^; It takes me so little time to read one manga tankoubon. And I can even read the more difficult titles now without just having to guess what’s happening. So now I’m hungrily consuming every interesting title I can lay my hands on.
Tomorrow I’ll do… things. Scanning mostly. Probably deleting other things. I’ll also have to do something about the merry site. …I need a slave ;_; Or someone to join me as a black sheep webmaster/mistress. Onegai shima~~~su.
